"We're right back where we started from" was the depressing thought that greeted me as I woke up one morning. Circumstances certainly seemed similar to what they had been when we were first married. It appeared we'd made little progress in sixteen years of marriage. Although I rebelled at such a notion, the feeling of depression hung on.
Later that morning, a statement in one of the testimonies of healing in the Journal I was reading caught my attention. The writer stated that each day she reflected with gratitude on the many blessings the Science of spiritual healing had brought. That expression of gratitude got me to thinking about the many healings our family had had through practice of the teachings of Christian Science. I decided to write them down, from the first one I could recall up to the present. After typing a couple of hours, I still had not recounted them all. Then I knew we were definitely not where we had started out! In each instance I could see a measure of spiritual growth. My depression soon lifted and fear dissolved.
I am convinced that divine Love is always present, impelling progress, guiding and preserving us. Mrs. Eddy writes in our textbook, Science and Health (p. 454), "Love inspires, illumines, designates, and leads the way." This statement is, to me, a self-proved truth.
