About contributing testimonies

From the October 1986 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Expressing gratitude for Christian Science healing is an important aspect of our own spiritual progress. If it has been more than a year since you have shared a written testimony, we invite you to consider submitting one. Preparation for writing might include thoughtful study of the provision in the By-Law "Testimonials" in the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy (Art. VIII, Sect. 24).

Examples of specific applications of this By-Law may be found in the chapter "Fruitage" in Science and Health (pp. 600-700). These accounts, selected with the guidance and approval of the author of Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy, are for the most part quite brief. They give the preponderance of space to healings of sickness, and they give decided emphasis to the healing power of Christian Science. They tell the facts, but they do not excessively describe details of sickness.

We feel the above standards are particularly applicable to the needs of the periodicals. While Science and Health allots one hundred pages to testimonies, each periodical can allot comparatively few. Brevity, therefore, is more than just a preference on the part of the Editors.
