Traveling in safety

From the October 1986 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Whether we are simply walking down the street for a loaf of bread or hopping from continent to continent, we're all travelers. Coming and going is an aspect of living for almost everyone.

If we live in a nice neighborhood, the walk to the store may seem a lark. Forays of greater distance and duration, however, particularly those that require us to take a car or plane, are considered by many potentially dangerous, at least to some degree. Modern science has mitigated many of the dangers, but travel that is perfectly safe is regarded as an impossibility.

Must we, then, stoically accept intrinsic danger whenever we come and go, expecting that the odds will be in our favor? Or is there a higher law that can make us immune from harm?
