"To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." The foregoing statement—the opening sentence of the Preface to Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy—has been proved true many times in raising our four children. These children had many healings through Christian Science during their growing-up years.
Once our eldest daughter, who loved animals, was petting a neighborhood cat when suddenly it attacked her, biting her across the bridge of her nose. She came running into the house in tears, upset that the animal had become so aggressive and unfriendly. After I had washed the wound and calmed her fears about a possible scar, we sat down quietly and I read her this statement from Hymn No. 182 from the Christian Science Hymnal: "Make channels for the streams of Love, / Where they may broadly run."
The bleeding stopped, and the wound closed up. No scar ever appeared.
