A breakfast that feeds the world

From the June 1987 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It has become increasingly popular to go out for Sunday brunch—a meal that is a combination of breakfast and lunch. Recently while vacationing in another country, my husband and I were tempted not to attend Sunday morning church and instead to have what was advertised as a fabulous "all you can eat" brunch at a local hotel. How glad we were we chose to go to church.

It was warm and humid in the upstairs room where the service was held. The window was open, and there were distracting noises coming from the street. The service was attended by only a handful of people. But what a spiritual feast awaited us.

We had expected to be inspired by the Lesson-Sermon. Those deep spiritual messages of man's relationship to God, which come through the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, have always brought healing and refreshment to us. That Sunday, however, there was something else in that simple church service that also fed me. It was the dedication of those few people to the Cause of Christian Science.
