It is a privilege and a joy to testify to the healing power of Christian Science. Several years ago a severe pain developed in my lower back, which made all movement both painful and difficult. While I was able to "get around," it was only accomplished slowly and with difficulty. There were many days when it was a struggle to walk from my office to pick up my mail at the other end of the building, and I can distinctly recall standing at one end of building and praying to know that I would be able to walk to the other end, and then praying literally each step of the way to get the mail and return to my office.
Hymn 139 of the Christian Science Hymnal was especially helpful, and I thought of the words often:
I walk with Love along the way,
And O, it is a holy day;
No more I suffer cruel fear,
I feel God's presence with me here;
The joy that none can take away
Is mine; I walk with Love today.
