Recently I visited a lovely woman who reminded me of the wonderful healing that brought my grandparents into Christian Science. As a young girl in the early 1900s, this woman had been a school friend of my mother and my aunt. One day upon hearing that their father was very ill, she told them he could be healed in Christian Science.
My grandfather's illness had been diagnosed by doctors as sciatica and double curvature of the spine, and he had spent many years suffering and searching for a cure. A devout member of a Protestant church, he loved the Bible. And because his need was so great, he agreed to visit this child's father, who was a Christian Science practitioner. After that visit, during which the practitioner prayed, grandfather walked home without his crutches and had his first good night's sleep in years. Through prayer he was completely healed in a very short time. With great gratitude he and my grandmother began attending a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and my mother and aunt were enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School. My grandfather lived a healthy, active life well into his eighties.
In rejoicing again with my mother's friend about this healing, I realized that the situation illustrated the Bible prophecy (Isa. 11:6) "A little child shall lead them."
