Church Bulletin Board

From the February 1988 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Whether at a shopping mall, on a college campus, or in the foyer of a church, a bulletin board is a great place for people to share information. You can learn a lot about an active community from reading local bulletin boards. We hope you'll enjoy this bulletin board and feel encouraged to join in and share experiences.

Several months before "Church Bulletin Board" began its regular appearance in the Journal, we learned of a branch church that had asked its members to consider the theme "What church membership means to me. "Members actually took the time to put some of their thoughts on paper and share them with one another. We think our readers will be as interested as we were in what they had to say. We wish we could share them all, but here's a sampling.

I am certain that I have learned many lessons through church membership that I probably would have found difficult to learn otherwise. I have learned a greater sense of compassion. I have learned to be alert to our Master's injunction "Judge not." I have learned that my commitment to church is a compact with God.... I feel I am just beginning to learn the true meaning of the word Christian.
