Thoughts of a Christian Science night nurse

Psalms 139:11, 12

From the August 1997 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Though people seem to sit in darkness,
oft act as host to doubt and fear,
Day, unfoldment of spiritual being,
awaits the whole world's opened eyes—
its turning to Light.

Silhouettes of night dissolve
in the soft, warm glow of dawning Life.
In gentle, sure turning to Soul,
we see the Light, already there—
awaiting our newly wakened thought.

We have oil to fill our lamps,
to light the dark for fearful hearts:
Heaven-inspired prayer,
gentle word and touch,
patience with the woeful thought—
All consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
