Christian Science, spirituality, and the sciences: discovery and progress

During the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church on June 7, , a contributing editor to the Christian Science periodicals, chaired a discussion with three physical scientists. They discussed the evolution of the sciences in the light of Mary Baker Eddy's discovery that reality is actually spiritual not material, and that the universe is structured and governed by divine law. They also told how prayer has guided their work in their respective fields and has brought healing to their lives.

The speakers included:

  formerly a professor of physics at Mount Holyoke College in western Massachusetts, and a physics researcher at Harvard University and at Bell Labs, where his assignments involved research in gravity waves, positrons, and optical astronomy. He is currently on a year-long sailing trip with his wife and son.
