From time to time the Journal will address questions on Christian Science treatment and practice

From the August 1999 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Question: What can we do if we feel Christian Science treatment isn't helping us enough?

Answer: We can help the treatment! We can affirm the divine power and authority behind treatment, or specific prayer, in Christian Science. That power is what makes treatment possible in the first place. In its substance, treatment comes from God, divine Mind. If we're turning to a Christian Science practitioner—to a Mind-healer—for help, we can recall just that: divine Mind is actually the only healer in the case. God is the source and impulsion of the healing effect, and guarantees it.

In addition, we can quicken our response to treatment by affirming our present oneness with God, with the very source of the truth that makes free. We can acknowledge that nothing harmful can wedge itself, now or ever, between us and immortal Mind. This Mind is forever holding within its embrace its own idea, man. God, good, is All, and man—our true self—can express nothing but good, and that is the spiritual fact at this moment.
