FROM THE CHRISTIAN SCIENCE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

New Appointment

From the October 2001 issue of The Christian Science Journal

WE ARE PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE the election of Mary Metzner Trammell, C.S.B., of Boston, to The Christian Science Board of Directors, effective July 18, 2001. In her role as a director, she will continue as editor of The Christian Science Journal, Sentinel, and Heralds.

Dr. Trammell, or "Trinka," as she's affectionately known, takes the place of Paul D. Grimes, C.S.B., of St. Louis, Missouri, who has asked to return to his work as a Christian Science practitioner and teacher.

Dr. Trammell's doctoral degree in English literature and Bible history, and her experience teaching those subjects at the university level, specially equipped her for the post of Church historian of The Mother Church in 1991—and for her move from there to associate editor of the religious periodicals in 1992. During this time she was coauthor, with William G. Dawley, of the book The Reforming Power of the Scriptures. In June 2000, she accepted appointment as editor of the periodicals. Her inspiration and love of writing have brought new vision and strength to these magazines and to the editors, designers, and other staff who help produce them, as well as to the contributors around the world who write for them. Many readers have told us of their gratitude for the healing effectiveness of these publications and of her editorials.
