Testimonies of Healing

A teacher gives thanks

From the May 2001 issue of The Christian Science Journal

MY HEART GOES OUT to God in deepest gratitude for the years of protection He has given me. In my 32-year career as a schoolteacher, God has guided me, strengthened me, and given me the words needed at every moment. I turned often to the 23rd and 91st Psalms. There were many wonderful times with the students and other teachers. Also, my final 16 years were completed without needing to take a sick day, which I attribute to my regular early morning prayer and study of the Bible Lesson.

After many years of studying Christian Science, I felt the need to understand better how healing take place, so I took class instruction from a teacher of Christian Science. I am most grateful for that wonderful opportunity. At the beginning of the class period, I found I was havig great difficulty sleeping. In praying about this problem the second night, I realized how much God loved me. This simple yet profound thought brought healing. The calm I felt allowed me to get into the flow of the instruction each day and to sleep normally each night. The inspiration from class and the study material from it have been very helpful in the battle with "old age" difficulties.

Healings of nervous trouble, as well as heart and stomach problems, have resulted from the help of loving practitioners. A hymn that begins "In heavenly Love abiding" (see Christian Science Hymnal, No. 148) was especially helpful with the heart problem. The direction and inspiration from God certainly took care of the situation.
