EVER SINCE I BEGAN studying Christian Science, I have had various proofs of how much it helps us. Right at the beginning of my study, I abandoned the smoking habit.
One day I was in the living room, watching television, feeling good, smoking a cigarette. When I furnished smoking, I put the cigarette out in the ashtray and went into the kitchen. When I came back, my son, who was two at the time, had the cigarette between his fingers, and was imitating my smoking gestures. I was shocked, and thought, "What am I teaching my son?" After that day I never again felt the desire to smoke.
I had tried to stop smoking many times, but had never been able to. The addiction would make me continue; it felt like a prison. I was searching and needed to find freedom, and I found it.
