ANNUAL MEETING 2001

The Annual Meeting of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, was held in Boston on Monday, June 4. At 1:30 p.m., the outgoing President, William E. Moody, C.S.B., of New Orleans, Louisiana, greeted those gathered in The Mother Church Extension in Boston, and everyone watching and listening on the World Wide Web.

He opened the meeting by reading passages from the Bible and from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures and other writings of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. After silent prayer and the Lord's Prayer, he invited the audience to sing Hymn 300 in the Christian Science Hymnal, "Saw ye my Saviour?" with words by Mrs. Eddy.

Mr. Moody announced the names of the Church officers for the coming year (see p. 59) and then introduced the new President of The Mother Church, Christiane West Little, C.S.B., of Washington, D.C., in these words:
