DISCOVERING SCIENCE AND HEALTH AND ITS AUTHOR

Mary Baker Eddy as a business mentor

From the April 2002 issue of The Christian Science Journal

is currently Executive Editor and General Manager of www.spirituality.com. She worked for several years in advertising and ran her own retail business before moving into the field of Web development. Chris spoke with us about her search for spiritual answers in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, and how she has come to recognize Mary Baker Eddy as an invaluable mentor for business perfessionals.

Can you tell us a little bit about your search for a mentor in the business world? How did Mary Baker Eddy come to be one of your mentors?

In My Early Experience in the advertising field, the owners and management within agencies, as well as the client base, were primarily men. And so I looked to male managers as mentors from whom to learn. But I also had a pretty good sense of the qualities of womanhood that I felt were important. So in my work, while I was learning about advertising and business with men, I was also adapting it to what I felt was right as a woman.
