Dare to be innocent

From the April 2002 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The shadows of shame disappear
in the light that God's Word makes clear.
Repentance, though voiced through tears,
annuls the sins of earlier years
and points the path of God's guidance
to the good that still defines us.

Then our true sense of innocence,
the evidence of God's presence,
is seen perfect humanhood,
and temptations understood
are opportunities—
proof of the supremacy of good.

The accuser's argument
now quelled,
we claim the Christly garment
which, though barely touched,
reveals all innocence,
and heals.
