Journal cover wins recognition

From the July 2002 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The Religion Communicators Council is an interfaith association of over 500 print and electronic religion publishing professionals, to which several members of the editorial staff of The Christian Science Publishing Society belong. This council holds two annual competitions. The Wilbur Awards recognizes excellence in communication of religious issues, values, and themes in the secular media, including newspapers and film. One of the Wilbur winners this year was The West Wing TV series for an episode about the fictional US president's faith.

The DeRose-Hinkhouse Memorial Awards is a competition among the council's members, and is judged in many publishing categories, including writing and editing, design, marketing, and Web communications.

In the DeRose-Hinkhouse competition, the cover design of the February 2001 issue of The Christian Science Journal was honored with Merit award. The issue focused on intercultural and interracial harmony.
