Moses picked up the snake. It was not something he wanted to do. The Bible says he ran away when he saw it. But he came back and "handled" it. He trusted God and summoned the courage to pick the snake up by the tail. And he must have been relieved and surprised when it became a rod in his hand, a rod—and an experience—that would be useful to him in the considerable tasks that lay ahead.
This issue of the Journal provides a good opportunity for you and me to get a firm grip on a subject that's a little like the snake Moses picked up. That subject is animal magnetism—a term for evil that is so often misunderstood that it's sometimes actually confused with good.
