Prayer is cool (so is God)

Tenth-grader of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, is, in many ways, a typical high-school student. He's balancing academics with a load of extracurricular pursuits, making time for the school musical, student council, tennis, and jazz band, among other activities. But through it all, Jon says, his relationship with God keeps him going—and grounded. Jon spoke recently with the Journal's

High school can feel full of ups and downs— prep for college, new social situations, trying to figure out who you are and what you want to do. What have you found to be the most effective way of dealing with these issues?

FOR ME, it always comes down to prayer. Maybe not initially. It can seem all too easy to get caught up in figuring things out for yourself, making something happen. Trying to get things done through your own willpower or even by relying on someone else may look like an effective way to deal with various situations. But the success rate, I've found, Is pretty hit and miss.
