What's your starting point?

From the March 2004 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Trouble. Is that the word that best describes the state of the world these days? Open a newspaper or turn on the TV and you'd have a hard time not answering yes. Bombings in the Middle East. Poverty at home and abroad.

It's natural to want to help—to play a part in ending the violence and bringing aid to those in need. But where to start? Throughout my life, I've found that the most effective way of helping in any situation is though prayer. But sometimes I've had to ask myself: How do I even begin to pray when it all seems so overwhelming?

One place to gain some clarity regarding this question is in the Bible.
