From the June 2007 issue of The Christian Science Journal

1. In this month's Deep Think column, Christian Science teacher Ann Stewart takes on the often misunderstood subject of compassion. It's not pity or sympathy, she says, but rather "the quality that impels us to shelter and to care, to bless and to heal." Read why we all need to find this most down-to-earth and practical spiritual component within ourselves so we can better help and heal others, page 22.

2. Marie Jureit, Charles Stewart Harding Mott Distinguished Professor of Music at Principia College, and her three daughters (all professional musicians) host monthly concerts they've dubbed "The Jureit Family Musicales" in their home. "My husband and I both loved having people in our home, so how could I possibly stop?" Marie comments, continuing, "There is no greater joy than to make people happy." Read about Marie's triumph over grief when her husband passed on nearly two years ago, page 26.

3. Christian Science teacher, practitioner, and lecturer Bosede Bakarey of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, left a growing law practice to devote her life to healing through prayer. She tells the Journal, "Although the desire to help others had been with me from childhood, I was not thinking of a career change when I found Christian Science. Yet this wonderful Science brought me home and gave me an unimaginable sense of peace and self-worth. The experience has been amazing." Read about her homecoming, page 36.
