I TURNED AWAY from the false attraction of materialism and immorality and gained a higher sense of good.

In humility, I let go of self-will, self-concern, and bitterness.

YEARS AGO, when most people in Africa could not read or write, the mode of education was mostly oral. Elders in a family told stories—usually by the light of the moon—to pass on knowledge and tradition. These tales always had a moral, or a nugget of wisdom, which the listeners—especially the children—were supposed to discern and learn from.
