SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, I brought home a large, explosively athletic dog from an animal shelter—she was about a year and a half old, part Boxer, part Great Dane, as far as we could tell. As she took off after a cat in the yard, the rope attached to her that I held in my hand sharply and severely twisted my fingers. I could not use or move my fingers or my left hand at all.
I don't know whether the fingers were broken or just sprained. I do know my hand was pretty much useless. I cradled the hand in front of me to avoid bumping it in any way. I couldn't pick anything up with that hand. I knew that this condition had to be completely healed in order for me to play the violin again.
During this time, although the fingers were stiff and unusable, it never occurred to me to seek physical assistance of any sort. Throughout my life I have had many healings by turning to God through my understanding of Christian Science. In every instance, I have found complete healing of any injury or illness. I felt certain the hand would be fully restored to normalcy through Christian Science prayer.
