SAFE FROM VIOLENCE

From the June 2007 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Boston: This year, our city has experienced an average of one murder every four days. How easy to say, "Well, that happens over there —in that neighborhood. Not here in mine." But as Christians, we don't have the option to ignore what happens to our brothers and sisters, to feel secure in our own lives while remaining unconcerned about others. Not only because what happens over there affects what happens over here—but because, as children of God, we all have the right to walk unafraid through any neighborhood, among any people. Fearing no one. And that right comes to us by divine decree because no one, no child of God–which includes everyone—can be excluded from divine Love's care and protection.

Real safety—inviolable eternal security—rests on understanding and then claiming that right of security for ourselves and others and living it, no matter what the circumstances. Read how several writers from around the world have learned this lesson in their own lives, and have prevailed, trusting divine Intelligence and divine Love to deliver them—as the Lord's Prayer promises—from all evil.
