A PUBLISHING BUSINESS POISED FOR CHANGE

From the July 2008 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"OUR CHURCH'S PUBLISHING BUSINESS has faced, and faces today, some major challenges," says Judy Wolff, chairperson of The Christian Science Publishing Society's Board of Trustees, "but we are finding answers." Among those challenges—an operating deficit that spans a half-century, circulation declines, spiraling costs, and an ever-accelerating pace of change on the publishing/media landscape.

The needed answers, affirms Judy Wolff and her two fellow Trustees in this recent conversation for the Journal, are coming through plenty of prayer and good old-fashioned hard work on the Trustees' part and by dedicated employees throughout the Publishing Society. "We have to succeed on both fronts," explains Trustee Don Adams—return to operating in the black and more effectively promoting Christian Science.

In this candid discussion, Judy, Don, and Trustee Walter Jones talk about past and current challenges, offer a window on the future, and invite Christian Scientists to join in praying for solutions that will expand the Comforter's benefit to the human family.
