I AM 92 YEARS YOUNG and this is a testimony of profound gratitude.
About 11 years ago, I collapsed in my home. Neighbors found me and took me to the hospital. A friend, who has since become a Christian Science practitioner, came to see me. I asked him if he would pray with me and he did. He came often during the few weeks I was there. We read from the Bible and Science and Health, and prayed together. But I seemed to be slipping away. I had lost much weight, and a skin condition had spread on my body. I was also in pain.
One day the doctors told me I had inoperable cancer, and that I had only a short time to live. When my friend came to visit me that day, I told him what the doctors had said. With great fervency, he said, "No! No! No! We are not going to accept that verdict!" The vigor of his exclamation woke me up, and I sat up in bed. He stayed and we talked for a time. I don't remember what was said. I just remember the spiritual love we both expressed.
