Next month marks the conclusion of the year-long series reporting on how Mary Baker Eddy has influenced so many lives. We deeply value each contribution that has appeared in these pages, as well as the gratitude people have expressed for what they’ve read.
In this same spirit of chronicling the inspiration and healing of our readership, we’re happy to announce a new series for 2012: “What it means to me to be a member of The Mother Church.” This title pretty much says it all—and we know that we’ll have as many diverse and compelling responses to publish as there are members to share them! We also know that, in one way or another, each will bear witness to the words Mary Baker Eddy noted were on the lips of those early members of “the little Church” she chartered in 1879: “ ‘Hitherto hath the Lord helped us’ ” (Church Manual, p. 18). Whatever it means to count yourself a member of the Church of Christ, Scientist—in terms of inspiration, guidance, healing, renewal, a life transformed, a Love-empowered thought you’ve shared—we invite you to write it down and tell it to Journal readers in your own words.
Feel free to start sending right away what you’re moved to share. We will endeavor to publish as many accounts as we can in the coming months, beginning in January. Please keep your offering fairly brief, around 400 words or less, so that we can print several at a time.
