One day as I was praying for church, I began to appreciate just how vital the Wednesday testimony meetings are in Christian Science churches. I turned to Revelation 12, verses 10 and 11: “And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.”
This passage tells us that salvation, strength, the kingdom of God, and the power of His Christ are come—present here and now. I realized that “the accuser” is the belief that we are mortal and material, which is manifested in the claims of sickness, sin, disease, and death. The passage also tells us how the accuser is cast down: “by the blood of the Lamb.” Every time we have a healing by following Jesus’ example of sacrificing the material senses and understanding that God is Spirit, the only Spirit and Mind, we cast down the accuser.
But it does not stop there. The passage also says that they overcame the accuser “by the word of their testimony.” The very act of giving word of our healings in our Wednesday testimony meetings is a part of casting down the accuser. Every testimony of healing reveals the truth that our salvation is come. Man is not material, is not subject to sin, disease, and death. The Christ is here now. The Bible and Science and Health bring this message to mankind. And we are living witnesses to this truth, and give word of this truth with our testimonies every Wednesday.
