Citing Mary Baker Eddy

From the May 2011 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Note from the editors:

You’ll notice an editorial change going forward as to how we reference Mary Baker Eddy, Journal founder and Leader of the Christian Science movement. It has become customary for Christian Scientists to respectfully refer to her as “Mrs. Eddy.” This same practice has carried over into our editorial guidelines. Now, to conform to our online publishing practices and remain current with how other notable figures are referenced, we will use “Eddy” beginning with the third mention of her name in the pieces we publish. “Mary Baker Eddy” will still be used with the first mention, and “Mrs. Eddy” with the second mention.
