How can I be free of the necessity of taking pills?

From the May 2011 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Q) How can I be free of the necessity of taking pills? —Asked at a recent Christian Science workshop in the Philippines

A) I love the heartfelt expectation expressed in your question—to “be free”! True freedom comes from an abiding trust in God to meet our every need, including health. This trust naturally follows as we learn that man’s being is spiritual, not material. Freedom from the need to take pills, or any material remedy, is found as we turn from matter as the basis of being to understanding our real identity as the child of Spirit, God. Mary Baker Eddy wrote, “God made man free” (Science and Health, p. 227). This concise yet powerful statement affirms God as Creator, and that freedom is inherent in us.

Claiming this spiritual freedom, we can demonstrate that true being is not in a material body governed by material laws of physiology, chemistry, and genetics. We are also freed from fear that pills are necessary to manage or correct a material condition, or that not using them could threaten one’s life.
