“And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: for she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour” (Matt. 9:20, 22). I think it’s interesting that the woman merely touched the hem of his garment. She didn’t cling to it in desperation. To me, this showed that she had an absolute faith that she would be healed—no doubts whatsoever.
I have often thought, Oh, if Jesus were only here now! If I could touch the hem of Christ’s garment, I could be healed. Then I realized that the Christ is, always has been, and always will be present. I can touch the hem of Christ’s garment now and be healed because it is “divine Life, Truth, and Love, and not a human personality” that healed the sick, reformed the sinner, and raised the dead (Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health, p. 138).
So, how do I touch the hem of his garment? Here are some ideas I came up with:
