Interviews

Songs of healing

The Journal’s Roger Gordon interviews Julia Wade and her husband, Peter Link. Julia recently completed her service as soloist of The Mother Church, and Peter is a composer, who has written many church solos. They speak about spiritually inspired music, the role of music in church services, and a new album they are preparing of songs intended as solos.

This interview has been adapted and edited for print from an audio podcast in the "Putting it on Record" series.

From the June 2012 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Julia: So much of what I will be doing stems from my very deep experience at The Mother Church. Presently, Peter and I are finishing up a big CD project that is Peter’s and my gift to the Christian Science movement. Peter will tell you more about this project, but I can tell you that it is an absolute, direct result of my work as soloist at The Mother Church.

This CD will be followed by another project that has been on the back burner, which is a new, more secular CD. It will still be inspirational music, but more secular in nature. I’ve made a commitment as an artist and a spiritual thinker to offer spiritual ideas in the secular world. So, this CD is slated for a Christmas release, and following all of that, a set of concert tours is being set up that will probably start in the winter and spring of 2013.
