We raised our two children on a remote cattle ranch in New Mexico, 150 miles from the nearest Christian Science branch church. We had no television, and mail was delivered three times a week. It was 12 miles to the nearest telephone.
I had Primary class when the children were one and two years old, so I was well equipped to handle the physical isolation. That’s because, through all those 27 years we lived there, I had a constant sense of connection with The Mother Church. It wasn’t a “place” on the East Coast called Boston; it was a feeling of peace in my heart, comfort at knowing that a clear understanding of God’s abiding love for His children was shared by my fellow Mother Church members around the world.
