Today there is a lot of attention given to the use of weapons. Political controversy over the use of weapons regularly hits the media; movies often include scenes with violent weaponry; the gaming industry adds interactivity with an array of imaginary weapons; and we are frequently informed of newer and more destructive armaments in development.
This can present a very discouraging picture of the times we live in, but there is another way of looking at things. We can take a more spiritual view, and the best way I have found to do this is to study the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, for their spiritual instruction and promises.
In the Scriptures, the Apostle Paul assures us: “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (II Corinthians 10:3–5).
