As a child I went to the dentist regularly for routine checkups and cleanings. But after graduating from college and living on my own, I did not go to the dentist for several years. I didn’t have health insurance, and at that time I didn’t have the money to pay for a visit.
Eventually, I decided to go to a student dental college for a free cleaning and exam. The student found a couple of cavities. The supervising dentist on site confirmed the student’s findings and found an additional cavity. They took X-rays and advised me to go to a dentist within the month to get fillings.
A year later, I was able to set up health insurance. Then I scheduled an appointment with my provider’s dentist.
