The “Mind” in the title refers to the one God, the infinite, ever-present divine Spirit, which is everywhere at all times and is always expressing its intelligent good for all. Mind is one of seven synonyms for God prominently employed in the teachings of Christian Science (see Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 465). Mind, as God, is the sole creator of each one of us. This means that all men, women, and children everywhere are ideas of Mind. And since ideas are not material at all, but spiritual, that must be what we actually are: entirely spiritual. In Science and Health, the Christian Science textbook, Mrs. Eddy writes, “All that really exists is the divine Mind and its idea, and in this Mind the entire being is found harmonious and eternal” (p. 151).
The “now” in the title refers to the immediacy of the presence, power, and intelligence of Mind; divine Mind is in full force right now, at this moment and every moment, without any delay. We can always realize the truth of Mind’s healing presence—right now. The Apostle Paul tells us, “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (II Corinthians 6:2).
God, Mind, is the powerful force behind this salvation that is available every moment. All individuals are actually God’s own spiritual image and likeness; that is our true identity. And divine Mind is constantly blessing its own ideas. Mind is always active in its expression of intelligence, love, and harmony, qualities that characterize God’s own being and, thus, our being as the perfect expression of Mind. To the degree that we understand and yield to our spiritual being as the perfect expression of God, whatever within our human character and experience that is unlike the love, power, and intelligence of the divine Mind is naturally and necessarily extinguished.
