Since I had grown up in Christian Science, it was normal for me to expect healing. And I have experienced healings of all kinds, from toothaches to a badly injured arm to hypothyroidism (see Christian Science Sentinel, December 3, 2012, and The Christian Science Journal, July 2018).
About eight years ago I felt as though my faith in Christian Science was being put to an extreme test when I started experiencing severe pain and a condition in my groin area. I did not seek a doctor’s diagnosis nor did I initially call a Christian Science practitioner. Being a Christian Science practitioner myself, I thought I knew enough of this divine Science to experience a complete healing by praying for myself.
Daily I studied the weekly Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly, which is composed of passages from the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. I paid particular attention to what it was saying about the spiritual truth of what my identity is, created by God.
