Several years ago, for the first time in 45 years, I found myself living alone, longing for relief from feelings of isolation. Sensing my need, friends asked me to visit them, which led to the purchase of a vacant, unique Craftsman-style house in need of restoration. I viewed the purchase as a project I could immerse myself in while changing thoughts of loss into gain.
Even with construction experience, I knew this would be a challenge given different building codes in a different state with different weather. But I was confident I could learn all I needed to know. This confidence came in part from a beloved reference in the Bible’s book of Isaiah—which was a part of my daily inspiration: “I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you” (46:4).
I met many unfamiliar challenges and was grateful for several physical healings.
