Testimony of Healing

Full recovery from foot injury

From the April 2026 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I was opening a door to my office to get some fresh air. I had opened the same door for 21 years but had never tripped over the threshold in the process before. This time was a first! I landed hard on my side.

A colleague witnessed the incident and asked whether I was OK. I said I was and figured I would just walk it off. I thought the foot that had twisted beneath me would be fine and said to myself, “There are no accidents.” This is based on a statement from page 424 of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy: “Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God’s unerring direction and thus bring out harmony.

“Under divine Providence there can be no accidents, since there is no room for imperfection in perfection.”
