The healing Christ

From the September 1978 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Some things should never be taken for granted. One of them is Christian Science treatment.

Picture yourself as part of that group of people who stood watching when Christ Jesus was confronted by the man with a withered hand. Suppose you actually heard Jesus say, "Stretch forth thine hand."Matt. 12:13; And, as you watched, the hand was restored to wholeness. It would have been a marvelous event. How could one help being deeply moved by the healing?

And yet some observers weren't so deeply moved—at least not in a positive direction. Some were angered. They questioned the healing—the day, the appropriateness. But wouldn't each of us, given what we know through Christian Science, have appreciated the significance of that healing?
