ITEMS OF INTEREST

In line with the spirit of Article XVII, Section 3, of the Manual of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, by Mary Baker Eddy, the corner stone of the new Publishing House was set at seven o'clock on Monday morning, October 17, 1932. There were present the members of The Christian Science Board of Directors, the Trustees of The Christian Science Publishing Society, the Publishing House Building Committee, the architect, and representatives of the builders and engineers; also the mason, foreman, and helpers, including the derrick operator.

FROM THE DIRECTORS

The credit of every Christian Science church should be above question. Our Leader raised a standard for us all when she ordained that our church buildings should be dedicated only after they were paid for ( Christian Science Sentinel, October 14, 1905 ), and, by a provision in her will for the promotion and extension of the religion of Christian Science, she made it possible for her Trustees to assist from her estate all Christian Science organizations in making their final payments before dedication of their church homes.

FROM THE DIRECTORS

Many inquiries reach The Christian Science Board of Directors regarding the holding of "metaphysical meetings" so called. Nowhere in the Church Manual or in other of the * writings of our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, is there reference to "metaphysical meetings.

NOTICE

With the approval of The Christian Science Board of Directors the two Benevolent Association sanatoriums are to have a new form of publicity as follows: An address has been prepared in printed form, which churches in the Field may obtain by writing to The Christian Science Board of Directors, and which may be used by these churches at meetings of their members when the address can be read, thus giving those present information about the sanatoriums of a more intimate character than that in general circulation. The demand for such an address to be read to church members came about because of addresses given in person by the Executive Supervisor of the charitable institutions, and by the Manager of the sanatorium at Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.

NOTICE

The historical statements now being sent to The Christian Science Board of Directors by churches, societies, and individuals in response to the invitation which appeared in the Christian Science Sentinel of June 4, are helpful and will be an addition to the historical data now being accumulated by The Mother Church. Some can be made more helpful by being less general in statement.
