Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

"OFT TO EVERY MAN AND NATION"

WHEN Mary Baker Eddy was working out the form of the services for her church, one of the problems before her was that of finding hymns which were in accord with the new teaching. It is not surprising that the wordings of many familiar hymns which she wished to use were not consistent with the teaching of Christian Science.

CHRIST THE PATH AND THE PRIZE

" CHRIST is the path, and Christ the prize," reads a line in a much-loved hymn in the Christian Science Hymnal ( No. 59 ).

"THE DIAMOND SERMON"

THE most important instructions ever given to mankind are those contained in the Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5—7).

BE ZEALOUS!

MAN LIVES IN THE ETERNAL NOW

" BELOVED , now are we the sons of God" ( I John 3:2 ). What an arresting statement this is! What power and freedom are ours when we accept and realize the truth contained therein! Christian Science has come to this age to reveal the nature of God and of man, made in His image and likeness.

HEALING COMPASSION EXCLUDES SYMPATHY FOR ERROR

COMPASSION has a liberating and healing effect when accompanied by the spiritual understanding of the real man's oneness with God, infinite good, as His reflection. To have Christlike compassion for an individual when we see him victimized by false beliefs of sickness, sin, or lack is to desire to free him from these illusions of mortal mind through the understanding of Christian Science.

"NOTHING SHALL OFFEND THEM"

"THE PRIVILEGE AND DUTY OF EVERY MEMBER"

IN the first issue of The Christian Science Monitor , which made its eventful appearance on the day before Thanksgiving Day, 1908, our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, made the following comment in an editorial: "I have given the name to all the Christian Science periodicals. The first was The Christian Science Journal , designed to put on record the divine Science of Truth; the second I entitled Sentinel , intended to hold guard over Truth, Life, and Love; the third, Der Herold der Christian Science , to proclaim the universal activity and availability of Truth; the next I named Monitor , to spread undivided the Science that operates unspent.

UNDERSTANDING OUR LEADER'S MISSION

TO grasp fully the immense scope and God-given completeness of Mary Baker Eddy's mission, it is necessary that one acknowledge the Biblical authority of Christian Science, perceive increasingly the spiritual nature of eternal Truth, and accept understanding the manner of Truth's appearing to human consciousness. The discovery of Christian Science was an event fraught with tremendous meaning for mankind.

NO UNSOLVABLE PROBLEM IN CHRISTIAN SCIENCE

SOMETIMES the student of Christian Science finds himself faced with a problem that he seems unable to solve. A sudden loss or a stubborn sickness defying his consecrated efforts may cause him to ask: "Why has this happened to me? Has Christian Science failed?" Evidently the student needs to reassure himself that it is as impossible for Christian Science to fail as it is for the science of mathematics to fail.
