SUFFERING—NOTICE OF DEMAND FOR PROGRESS

Suffering is not one's natural lot. Trouble is never one's necessity.

GOD'S KINGDOM, POWER, AND GLORY, FOREVER

The last line of the Lord's Prayer given in the Gospel of Matthew ( 6:13 ), "For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever," has been referred to as a doxology or form of praise to God. It constitutes an affirmation or statement of God's allness, now and eternally.

LIVING UP TO OUR WORDS

The right use of terms is important in the Science of Christ-healing. Mary Baker Eddy was careful to choose the words which most nearly conveyed her thoughts.

"I SHALL NOT WANT"

Pure , Godlike, spiritual knowing always finds fulfillment. Christian Scientists around the world rejoice that thought which reflects God partakes of the nature of eternal Spirit, in which there is no want.

CHRISTIAN SCIENTISTS AND THE PRESENT AGE

In their message to the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church on June 2, 1958, The Christian Science Board of Directors referred to Christian Scientists in the present age, stating that although some people may view the age with trepidation, Christian Scientists welcome it and the opportunities accompanying it. Christian Scientists do welcome the opportunities this age presents, because they are learning to view it in terms of spiritual prophecy.

ERROR LACKS VERITABLE HISTORY

IN Isaiah's prophecy the Messiah, or Christ, is named Immanuel, that is, "God with us. " In speaking of the Christ, Jesus declared ( John 8:58 ), "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

"NONE GOOD BUT ONE"

ONE of the traits of mortal mind is pride in its own ability to do good, to think righteous thoughts, to exercise wisdom and intelligence, and to know what is right and what is wrong. Denying the possibility that good originates in person, Christ Jesus rebuked an inquirer who addressed him as "good Master" with the words ( Matt.

"LOOSE HIM, AND LET HIM GO"

COMPLETE trust in God is illustrated in John's account of Christ Jesus' raising of Lazarus from the dead. The Master thanked his heavenly Father before calling Lazarus forth.

A BRIGHTER TOMORROW

THE expectation that things will be better tomorrow is generally regarded as a helpful outlook. Too often, however, one may be looking out from a sense of discouragement and disappointment over the present or basing his hopes on shallow optimism without a real foundation.

"CHRIST IS THE HEAD OF THE CHURCH"

MARY BAKER EDDY says of Christ Jesus and his disciples (Retrospection and Introspection, p. 91 ), "When he was with them, a fishing-boat became a sanctuary, and the solitude was peopled with holy messages from the All-Father.
