"I SHALL NOT WANT"

From the April 1959 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Pure, Godlike, spiritual knowing always finds fulfillment. Christian Scientists around the world rejoice that thought which reflects God partakes of the nature of eternal Spirit, in which there is no want. In "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany," Mary Baker Eddy says of what may be termed the fruits of spiritual thinking (p. 129), "These are His green pastures beside still waters, where faith mounts upward, expatiates, strengthens, and exults."

Because mankind is endowed with consciousness the present possibility of abundance and satisfaction for all exists through right thinking. Christian Science affirms that ultimate dominion over lack is assured because the consciousness which is recognized as fundamental to real being is God, perfect, divine Mind. Man, God's likeness, reflects this Mind. The ability to think rightly gives every individual the promise and capacity to reap the harvest of enriching, rewarding, spiritual thought.

In the degree that we as Christian Scientists increase our understanding of Christian Science, we find familiar portions of the Bible showing forth clearer and more satisfying meanings. Passages become progressively illumined in a way that dispels the sense of lack from our experience, much as the dawn gradually effaces the shadows.
