REVIEW AND REVISE

From the April 1959 issue of The Christian Science Journal

One fully believes and understands only that which he has proved or experienced. In Christian Science, especially, that which we know and have proved through practical demonstration helps us to build an ever higher understanding of divine Principle, God.

On page 20 of "Unity of Good," under the heading "Rectifications," Mary Baker Eddy asks, "How is a mistake to be rectified?" She answers, "By reversal or revision,—by seeing it in its proper light, and then turning it or turning from it."

When our relationship with another becomes discordant or unhappy, it is time to review our thoughts concerning the individual and to compare these thoughts with the standard of the one perfect God, Spirit, and His likeness, the perfect, spiritual man. We must be willing to obey Christ Jesus' instruction (Matt. 7:5), "Cast out the beam out of thine own eye." Any thought that does not meet that standard must be revised until it does meet it and harmony is expressed.
