The Bible records God's promises of freedom from sin, disease, and death. How often the heart weighted by woe asks this question: "Are God's promises for me?" Christian Science declares that God's promises are for all mankind.

Do we see a sinful man at times, perhaps a hateful or a sick man, or do we even seem to be such a man? By reversing the erroneous, material sense testimony, we can never find false qualities in man, for man is the expression of God. God, good, is ever present, and evil is never where God is; hence it is ever absent.

As we study the record of the healing works of Christ Jesus, it is evident that he consistently acknowledged God as the source of his ability and goodness. He said ( John 14:10 ), "The Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

" If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death" ( John 8:51 ). These authoritative words of Christ Jesus, the Founder of Christianity, vitally challenge every student of the Bible to follow the Master's teachings and to avail himself now of the great fact that man's immortality is a present and provable reality.

Objection is sometimes raised concerning "paternalistic" trends in government, that people are thereby encouraged to expect something for nothing—a good living and security without paying the price; that this tendency fosters a desire for benefits without sufficient exertion to earn them. This objection is based on the natural law that requires the debit and credit sides of life to be kept in balance and demonstrates that in the long run we have only what we earn.
