Christ Jesus voiced the law of universal, irresistible spiritual attraction when he declared, "I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. " These words give assurance of universal redemption through the winning power of divine Love.

The opening verse of the ninetieth Psalm, "Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations," voices a profound truth, the vital significance of which has been grasped by but few. Moses, who is credited with having written this Psalm, as well as Enoch, who "walked with God: and he was not; for God took him," must have seen the truth that man lives in God, Spirit.

While Nazareth, hidden away by encircling hills in its own little valley, is far from what are now the main streams of travel, at the beginning of the Christian era, it was not far from the chief highway between Egypt and Damascus, between the sea coast and the East.

Little is known of the early history of Nazareth. It was situated in Galilee, on the slope of a hill, and had a synagogue in which Jesus taught.

It is recorded in the twentieth chapter of II Chronicles that as King Jehoshaphat stood in the house of the Lord still fearing the armies of the children of Moab and Ammon, Jahaziel, the son of Zechariah, prophesied, saying, "Set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord .

When we pray correctly, our prayer is inseparable from its answer. Through our own experience and through observing that of others, most of us had come to believe— before we gained an understanding of Christian Science—that some prayers were answered and some were not.

Mortals , having been taught to believe in an evil power, and to base their conclusions in regard to environment and circumstance solely upon the evidence furnished by material sense testimony, seem at every turn to encounter unsurmountable difficulties. They believe they have been placed in an unfriendly universe without their own consent, and that they are the victims of circumstances and laws over which they have no control.

Within the consciousness of even an earnest student of Christian Science, the argument may sometimes arise that he is discouraged. There is, of course, never any actual reason for this, since discouragement is only one of the many erroneous beliefs of the so-called human mind, having no power, presence, activity, nor foundation in Truth.

On some of the coins of the United States of America is the inscription, "In God We Trust. " This declaration should serve as a helpful admonition; for we should look to God for daily guidance, especially when, through the study of Christian Science, the nature of God is intelligently understood.

Security is essential to the progress of nations as well as of individuals. This security is dependable only when it is based upon divine power.
