EACH day we hear from all sides of the great longing of most men for the abolishment of war and the permanent establishment of peace. The Christian Scientist heartily concurs in this aspiration and supports all right endeavor leading to this goal.

HEALING in Christian Science results uniformly from the realization of divine facts, a realization that dispels mortal illusions and replaces their seeming effects on human lives with humility, health, abundance, usefulness, unselfishness, and other elements of gloriously harmonious being. There is no law imposing a time lag upon such realization, as Christ Jesus amply demonstrated by his instantaneous cures.

IN the dim and distant past, a great spiritual fact dawned on the consciousness of a single individual of the human race, and then disappeared from the ken of mankind for long ages. This was the fact of pre-existence or the spiritual, eternal origin of man.

A Machine or any mechanical device which could not be easily regulated and controlled, or which frequently broke down or got out of order, would not be considered reliable or very valuable. A watch that either lost or gained time, or stopped entirely, would be of little use to a railroad engineer or an announcer in a radiocasting station.

In the Jewish canon the books of Ezra and Nehemiah originally constituted one book. It is the opinion of modern scholars that both books were put into their present form by one and the same editor.

Few characters in the Old Testament are more engaging than Nehemiah. Occupying a post of great influence, dignity, and attractiveness at the splendid Persian court, he had, nevertheless, a noble Jewish heart, which had often shown itself in acts of friendliness to Jews sold as slaves.

The story is told of an old grandfather's clock, the second hand of which one day suddenly stopped. Complaining that too much was required of it, the second hand lamented the millions of ticks it had had to indicate, never being permitted to stop.

To many people today the problem of finding a suitable home presents itself for solution. What does the great Master say on the subject of home? In simple language he states: "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you.

The Bible abounds in promises of joy, peace, and prosperity, and of complete protection from all evil. The Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, likewise overflows with encouragement, showing that evil of any description must not be considered necessary, unavoidable, or incurable, because it has been proved to have no reality.

The question is often asked by those unacquainted with the teachings of Christian Science, How is one to find and prove the healing power of which Christian Science gives knowledge, and which its adherents utilize in working out problems of sickness and sin? Mary Baker Eddy, Discoverer and Founder of this Science, gives the clue to success in all healings, of whatever nature, where she says in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" ( p. 145 ), "If there is any mystery in Christian healing, it is the mystery which godliness always presents to the ungodly, —the mystery always arising from ignorance of the laws of eternal and unerring Mind.
