True success is the attainment of spiritual understanding. To "bear witness unto the truth," so that this truth might be discerned and demonstrated by all mankind, was the mission of the divine Way-shower.
Service is a divine idea. It is an idea of that Mind which is the only source of the inspiration, love, humility, purity, fidelity, and constancy which characterize one who is the true minister to mankind.
The prisoner at the bar and the witness in the box are characters inseparable from history and fiction; nor is this the extent of their activities, for, as every one knows, a witness is not confined to a court room nor a prisoner to a dock. He who wrote, "Self-reverence, self-knowledge, self-control,— these three alone lead life to sovereign power," is universally regarded as both a sage and a poet.
