A recent film,  Contagion , directed by Steven Soderbergh, explores the spread of a lethal virus that becomes a worldwide pandemic, killing thousands of people as it gains momentum—and defeating the best efforts of disease control experts to identify it. According to the reviews, the story is alarmingly believable, dwelling on the science involved in combating such a virus.

By the time we reach our 40’s , we’ve often come to terms with life—settled in our ways and not expecting big changes. I certainly never expected the answer to the riddle of the universe to appear at that time of my life and transform my entire existence.

I have always loved studying different languages and cultures. So, when I was given the chance to learn Spanish and Indonesian during my last two years of high school, I eagerly signed up.

When I first found Christian Science, I was surprised to learn that I didn’t have to catch a cold just because it was going around. One day I asked the librarian at a Christian Science Reading Room some questions about how to handle the “bug” people were complaining about.

Have you ever wondered if the opportunity to bless humanity in a meaningful way has passed you by, and that now it’s too late? I know I have. But I find great comfort in the fact that each one of us is always blessed to be a blessing.

We occasionally use the expression “out of the mouth of babes” ( Ps. 8:2 ) when hearing a child utter something that sounds so “adult” or mature.

A recent Christian Science Bible Lesson contained this statement from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy: “The foundation of mortal discord is a false sense of man’s origin” ( p. 262 ).
